CHARACTERISTIC of Promonocyte

Size

12 - 20 um in diameter

Cytoplasm

Moderately basophilic cytoplasm which is granulated and vacuolated

More prominent azurophilic granules than moncytes

Nucleus

Round or lobulated

 

Promonocytes are positive with SBB, myeloperoxidase and non-specific esterase reactions.

Promonocytes are seen occasionally in reactive conditions or in leukaemias.
