CHARACTERISTIC of Neutrophil, band

| Cytoplasm | Acidophilic with many fine granules | 
| Nucleus | A curved or coiled band | 
| Chromatin | Clumped chromatin | 
The Committee for the Clarification of Nomenclature of Cells and Diseases of the Blood Forming Organs has defined a neutrophil band cell as "any cell of the granulocyte series which has a nucleus which could be described as a curved or coiled band, no matter how marked the indentation, if it does not completely segment the nucleus into lobes separated by a filament".
