Survey Four 2001
Liver
Haematoxylin and Eosin
The liver section of a case of recurrent pyogenic cholangitis was stained with Haematoxylin and Eosin. It shows an expansion of the portal areas by fibrosis. |
Gorden & Sweets' Method
Nearly all modern laboratories use this metal impregnation method as routine stain for the demonstration of reticulin fibres on 3 to 4 mm thick paraffin sections. Majority of the laboratories prepare the working silver solution freshly. |
It should be noticed that the sensitivity of the working silver solution would result in a great loss if excess of ammonia was applied.
